Merchant of Venice

I love going to the theatre... I've been more times in the last 6 months than I've been in the last 6 years... Tonight we saw the Merchant of Venice. When I found out it was set in the 1980s I was worried I wasn't going to like it... Thankfully that fear was totally unfounded. I absolutely loved it. The 2 principals of Shylock the Jew and Antonio the Merchant were superb and had all the emotive responses down to a tee. The set itself was very minimal, but used to great effect... The use of 80s song clips during scene changes added to the cheesy comedy effect of the costumes and hair which was done to such good effect. All in all am excellent performance :-)
