Queens of Narnia

Can you tell that both Nomi and my sister are actresses? They can't help but pose for a photo :-) that and the fact they can't wait to see the film :-)

Baby Crimbo Trees

Still stuck in traffic... But at least the scenery is better :-)

Saw these baby Christmas trees in a field by the road. I wonder how long it takes them to grow to selling height? Probably a few years... Must be strange having to plant them years in advance of harvesting. But I suppose once it's established it's easy growing them on rotation.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire

A lorry overturned on the motorway this morning... Causing the police to close 2 junctions. So we all filtered off into the Medway towns... Big mistake... They're congested enough on a good day. Let alone with the M2s traffic trying to go through it too! So here I am stuck in traffic (probably caused by another accident, caused by stupid people weaving through the town). 99% of the time I have my bag with me, so in a jam I can play my DS or PSP... Sadly the one time I could actually game in traffic and I leave my bag at home! :-(

Just Plain Pissed Off

Haven't ranted in a while... so fear the wrath of my spleen!

I love computers... especially fixing them. Sure they can be a bugger at times, but I like the challenge.

So for the last week or so I've been fixing some of the older computers at work. And much to the delight of many I managed to get one aging dead computer to fit inside a newer computer (Thus saving the space of an extra monitor etc) and all the weird bespoke software to work. Not only that But I managed to set it up so that it backs up, something that was never done before (Highly dangerous considering it has CNC programs for a lot of our stuff on it, representing hundreds of hours of programming time). That was all good.

Now here comes the bummer... a new PC was playing up, it was far too "powerful" for the software we was trying to run, so I downgraded it, removed the fancy graphics card and went back to the on board Intel extreme drivers (Which was the best it required). All ran perfectly... still a few glitches, so I connected it to the network. Unbeknown to me in doing so it ballsed up the hardware keys (Somehow tied to the network ID) preventing the software from running... ARSE. Now instead of them calling me and screaming WTF have you done they spent 3 hours trying to fix it! Which they couldn't.

So I get in get an ear full about it told not to touch it and basically placed in the dog house.

I've of course now fixed it... using a simple system restore... why our IT expert didn't do this is beyond me... tho why they didn't call me is also beyond me.

So now I'm really hacked off about being bad-mouthed when a 30 second phone call (Or a tiny bit of IT knowledge) would have fixed it.

ARGH

Right my spleen is satisfied and I'm off my soap box... I shall return to my corner and grumble away like a active volcano.

I Caught an Eel

Now it's summer in my town on Animal Crossing there's plenty me new creatures to catch. I was surprised to catch this Eel :-) I've spotted a shark too... But failed to catch him :-(

Speed Trap Ride

This is funny... A kids ride where you get flashed by a speed trap. Something makes me think they're trying to desensitise us at a young age to how evil these speed traps are. The car itself looks sad and it's tyres are all misshapen from breaking!

Don't think daddy's going to be as pleased as little Johnny when one of these takes his picture.

Oriana

We saw the Oriana in port when we left this morning... On the way back she passed us on her way to sea. Compared to the ferry she's huge! I always wonder how they stay upright in rough seas, cruise ships always seem to have such a shallow draft compared to there width. Guess it must work tho!

Red Funnel

My job sometimes takes me to exotic locations... Well the Isle of Wight anyway :-)

To get there we have to get a Red Funnel ferry across from Southampton... They're just like a small version of the cross channel ferry's just without the duty free shop. It does take quite a while to cross tho... As Southampton is quite a way up the Solent.

Makes for a nice little pleasure cruise before I start work :)

Note: Spelling for Wight changed... why cant they spell it "White" like it sounds?

Sheppey Beach

Bit of an old post this... But finally gotten around to posting it :-) My mate Andy is off to work in the far side of London... I'm gonna miss him. For the last couple of months we've been going swimming at least once a week, mainly at his posh gym (Yay no screaming children) but once at the pool near my work. As it was the first and last time we'd be going we took a bit of a wander to the beach (the pool is near the sea). I wish we'd done this ages ago as we had a really good time.

Well at least I have the excuse to go up town to go see him now :)

Down with the sickness

Today I should have been going to download to watch Disturbed (Or rather I would have already been there). But unfortunately my free ticket went and disappeared when Christians Alternative Karaoke collection blew up... but that's another story.

Given how I feel today I'm glad I'm not there... I've never suffered with Migraines before, but this one's doing my head in... I feel like I'm pissed but with a clamp around my head squishing it in. I'm not a complainer... I usually just suck it up and carry on or go to sleep. But this is really unnerving me... it's like my body's being controlled by someone with Parkinson's using a wiimote.

Today I feel like a pinball with a head cold.
