Naomi

We’ve known of each other (Through my sister) for years, but hardly ever spoken to each other until she asked if she could come to MinamiCon this year. After a particularly hard day selling Pocky to the masses I had the pleasure of spending an evening chatting to her in the bar. I discovered she was very intelligent and whitty and a lot of fun. It wasn’t until the next convention that I contacted Naomi again, sadly she couldn’t come with us… but for some strange reason we got chatting via txt… it’s probably the longest non stop conversation I’ve ever had (In some sense of the word it’s still running today as we only tend to txt during lunch hours and at night… we’ve covered about every topic you can imagine from anime to fantasy novels, stand up comedy, religion, freemasonry, homeopathy, music, science, computer games and gothic fashion. And on every subject I’ve either learnt something, met my intellectual equal or had a theological discussion, I think every thing I’ve ever done watched read or listened to she’s been able to talk back to me about it. She’s truly a fascinating person

Beginnings and Ends

This morning was surreal... I woke up singing "Teenagers" by my chemical romance. 5 mins later my mums radio alarm goes off and it was being played on invicta!

Had an emotional eve, Vince's funeral was today so Beckie was quite upset. I went to give her some support. Her describing the funeral really got to me. He was too young to die.

Me and matt are at japan ex this weekend. It's basically a expo about japan in general. There are traditional Taicho Drums. Suprisingly noisy in such a large hall.

Listless Brain

For the last few days I’ve had some real trouble getting any decent amount of sleep, I'm tired so I go to bed, but my mind keeps racing and all I can do is stare at the ceiling. It's frustrating to say the least.

However I do eventually fall asleep, but it's not a satisfying sleep, I'm still tired when I get up (An hour after my alarm goes off). This in turn makes me a very cranky man at work as I've got to race to get to work on time.

I don't know if it's because I'm tired but my brain for some reason lately is just listless... I don't know how to correctly describe it... it just doesn't want to stick to the same subject for too long... like someone channel hopping on the TV, this is even worse when I'm at work (My brain really doesn't like that channel!) .

These listless nights have one saving grace tho... I've been talking to my friend Naomi a lot (No romantic involvement there so no sniggering up the back) she’s without a doubt the cleverest woman I know and unfortunately she’s suffering the same problem as me with lengthy bouts of insomnia.

Sheppy Gig

Cursed as Angels (Or rather Cursed as Angels as the set list said) played a gig on the Isle of Sheppy yesterday... in possibly the smallest pub back room in the world. Although the venue was a bit crappy (Paul was so worred the amps would be stolen that we spent half the night guarding the cars) they went down really well.

I'm really gettting intrested in music at the moment (From the practical point of view rather than just listening), shame is that I've got no musical tallent what so ever. Even to the point where i can't sing or keep a beat, I must be missing that gene... I wonder if they need a full time roadie?

Southwold Pier

Southwold is a seaside resort near to where my dad lives. On the pier there's a cool little gallery full of hand made arcade machines... Not computer games, but old style machines that do things. But they are all funny and bizase. One is a zimmer frame simulator. Paul went on the quick fit machine. Basically you lay down and it moves your arms and legs to a funny aerobics tape... With cut out paper puppets... One is madonna... Another was Bin Laden :-)

I was right

Today did in fact… and still in fact sucks, not only did I get a totall grilling over my designs… or lack threeof the work load is in fact going to get heavier and I’m just going to get more stressed. To cap it off our servers went pop yesterday… so I fixed them… rather than calling out costly engineers, that in fact was the wrong thing to tdo you see… instead the boss would have much rather have paid a guy to come out here and push the reset button and press the yes button when asked if the computer should rebuild the failed RAID array disk.

And there was me thinking I was doing them a favour… Noooo... should have spent 70 her hour + travling expenses on an IT expert.

And finally the icing on the cake… Vincent Fox a casual aqauintance of mine and a truly great bloke (ex boyfriend to Beckies sister Kayleigh) was knocked off his motorbike today and killed. I wish his family and friends all my love at this sad time, he was taken from us far to early. Hopefully he’s found his way to the racetrack in heaven and is kicking up a storm.

Homework

I've got a design I need to sketch at home, simply because I ran out of time at work to do it. That and the fact that I wanted to do it the old fashioned way with pen and pencil.

Unfortunately that means I'm now sitting here... tired and grumpy with no idea what to do :-)

Bugger I hope I wake up early so I can finish it... either that or I hope my boss is in late tomorrow.

Somehow I doubt I'm gonna be that lucky. Tomorrow looks to be a bad day.

Bad Boy

Not posted in a couple of days. which is not what this blog's supposed to be
about, so this is a note to remind me that I should post more often.

Also it's a test for posting in plain txt via e-mail. Hopefully it'll solve
the formatting problems I've been having.

Also anyone that's interested the RSS feed for my blog is:

Pace Car

On the way to work this morning i noticed a police car suddenly turn on his lights up ahead... Now it's not uncommon to see police cars on this part of the M2 so i thought some poor sods been done. However he didn't pull someone over just stayed there gradually slowing down. When he got to 30 miles an hour we'd bunched up behind him like F1 cars following a pace car. I noticed the sign on the back said "do not overtake". Then he slowed to a stop. I thought shit what's going on up ahead to stop a whole motorway... The passenger then hopped out and picked up what appeared to be a scaffold pole... He then sprinted off and picked up another... And another all with the police car (and the rest of us) following slowly behind. The debris was soon clear and we were off but it was a wierd experience seeing a totally empty motorway.

WLB

Work Life Balance… anyone that’s done a course in business management will recognise that phrase. The basic premise is that for an employee or rather a person to be happy their work life and social life must balance. IE If you spend all day working and only have enough time to sleep at night and nothing else you’ll soon have end up having a breakdown.

I’ve got a pretty reasonable WLB, I work a reasonable number of hours in the day, then have a few hours to do the things I want, and the entire weekends to relax and do as I please. Now I’m sure I’m pretty well off in that respect and I’m doubly sure that there’s plenty of people out there that work a “36hr day down pit with half an hour off for Christmas dinner”, but for the life of me I can’t seem to figure out where the time goes, I seem to work, go home rest, work again repeat, the weekends are usually hectic, but I seem to never get the time to just sit there and go… hmmm what now?

This is turning into another one of my rants… so apologies. But I’ll end on a classic saying that I think is very apt… time flys when your having fun. Or in my case… time flys when you’re not at work!

Thoughts of the Day

Funny how whenever you think one aspect of your life is right... another falls down flat on its face. My lifes been taking some dramatic turns lately... and no mater what happens I never seem to get the ballance right.

God I'm starting to sound emo

Less Txt

Just seen my latest phone bill… holy crud apparently I’ve sent over 1400 text messages this month! I should really cut down. I need to review my tariff so I can get a better deal, time to do some wheeler dealing with O2 me thinks. Perhaps I should wheel out the good old fashioned phrase “I’m gonna leave for a company that offers a better deal… Unless you can beat it?”

Thunder and Lightning

Well here goes my first attempt at blogging via e-mails. If this works I may update a little by this method when I can’t get my normal access.

Over the last few minutes the sky has totally opened up and we’ve been having some pretty impressive thunder and lightning. I don’t know if it’s the big kid in me, but I love thunder and lightning, especially at night… I can’t help but watch in awe as the lightning streaks across the sky. I’ve always wanted to photograph lightning, but you’ve got to be in the right place at the right time with the right setup. None of which I’ve ever had. Although I will have to check the video footage from Germany as I may have accidentally filmed some, that is when I eventually get around to downloading it!

P.S. Gotta remember to delete the auto signature before I post J

P.P.S. Added the photo from my drive home... black cloud!

Last cigarette indoors

No smoking laws come into effect at 6am so we're all having one... Even the non smokers... to signal the end of an era.
