I want a garbage can?

We're shopping in London today. The first thing we heard coming off the train was a woman with a thick American accent saying:

"I want a garbage can... Don't they have garbage cans here?".

Felt like saying "No we don't... as people put bombs in them"

I'll never understand these people, English things are either 'aw, it's so quaint' or 'it's not fast enough' or 'it requires effort'. Why can't they make up their minds, the very nature of Britain being quaint renders it unlikely to be efficient in any way shape or form and to be fair we do not disappoint in this department! Stop whinging and be happy about the fact you aren't blown to smithereens, that's what I say!
